MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A local engineer and seamstress who started sewing face masks for co-workers now make them available to the Middle Georgia community.

Rachel Moore says she realized there was a worldwide shortage of face masks after the pandemic began. So, the sewing community has stepped up to help out.

While most try to make their own masks, Moore shared safety tips for properly constructing the mask with nose wire.

Moore offers a downloadable sewing instruction guide. This free guide includes safety and quality checks for face-mask seamstresses to consider.

“We have lots of seamstresses in the community that has come to the forefront to sew. And every time I sew a hundred, I am donating ten percent of what I’m making to the medical providers that are in need,” Moore said.

Also with those downloadable instructions, Rachel also provides other stretch material recommendations for making personal protection equipment.
