A Stumble into Purpose:
On June 7, 2019, while standing in New York Times Square with my twin sons, two minutes before the Big Premiere of “Crazy Drive” a PSA short film that discourages teens from texting and driving, produced by my son Jamicah and some college mates; I received a surprising text message. The next day I did a screenshot to capture the message in the image shown below.
At that moment, there was no time to focus the text message, because our eyes were on the Big Screens to view Crazy Drive. Here is a photo of Jamicah with his short film display on the screen in Times Square behind him. It was an exciting experience!
It wasn’t until after we arrived back home in Georgia before I even realized what was happening. I had been hand-selected to compete in the Ms. Health & Fitness 2019 Competition. Now, how did that happen?
Here’s the scoop. On January 1, 2019, my family and I had our annual Family Visioning Party. While flipping through the magazines, I saw the words Ms. Health & Fitness 2019, so I cut out the image and added it to my Tote-a-Vision to represent my health and fitness goals for the year. In the magazine, there was also a link to submit a personal statement and a photo; so I did and forgot about it. Then six months later, I receive the text and email notifications.
Now fast forward to where we are today. Our lives become more fulfilling when we make a difference in the lives of others. I now know that I was divinely guided into this opportunity for that purpose, to Make a Difference in the lives of Wounded Military Veterans. I’m halfway through the 8 Voting Rounds, in this Ms. Health & Fitness 2019 Competition and hadn’t directly asked my family, friends, followers, and others for Warrior ‘Votes until this week. Warrior Votes are monetary donations of $10 or more and each dollar is equivalent to a vote. Asking people for money always makes me feel a little awkward, but now I’m asking.

One of the biggest challenges to losing weight is knowing the right food choices. When you consume too many carbohydrates in each meal, your body can not burn it all. Then, instead of turning your food into energy, your body stores it as fat. Starchy foods such as rice, potatoes, pasta, and bread contain higher amounts of carbohydrates. My recipes will provide you with food options.
